Theraroma's Essential Oil of the Month is actually a co-product of essential oil distillation- a hydrosol!
Peppermint Hydrosol, as with all hydrosols, is created through steam-distilling pure plant material. The essential oil of the plant sits atop the water soluble components of the plant. The oil is skimmed off, producing potent peppermint essential oil. The water left is the hydrosol. Hydrosols are much gentler than essential oils but are still very therapeutically active (think a tea that is 10 times brewed strength!) and very versatile as they can be used freely on the face and body, as well as on children and pets.
Our Organic Peppermint Hydrosol has a wonderful variety of uses. It can be sprayed on your face and body to help cool you either from summer heat or hot flashes. It's anti-inflammatory aspects can help relieve muscle tension and calm red, irritated skin conditions, including those caused by acne, insects, allergies or sunburn. Peppermint hydrosol still has all the mind-stimulating properties of the essential oil, making it helpful for any task requiring concentration and for staying awake while burning the midnight oil.
